Born in California, Lisette Lahana received a B.A. in Critical Gender Studies and another in Psychology at UC San Diego. In 1997 she earned her Master's in Social Work at Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA. She is a LICSW in Massachusettes since 1999 and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#23663) in California since 2006.
Ms. Lahana provides brief therapy, EMDR as well as long-term insight-oriented therapy. Bicultural and fluent in the Spanish language, she is committed to serving Latinos and other people of color. Play therapy with children and counseling for adolescents are areas of expertise.
Ms. Lahana is a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapist (by EMDRIA). She is also a Gender Specialist and welcomes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgendered, Intersexed and Questioning clients. In 2007 she founded and organized The New England Gender Conference for Therapists and Healthcare Providers She provides phone consultation for therapists new to conducting psychotherapy with gender variant clients.
